How to get links

Hi All,

Ok, this is loaded question but how the hell do you people get links manually, this has been a bloody thorn. Because my school of thought have never been about getting links, as my sites naturally gain authority through time. However time is an issue for me, I need some help as I finally admit holly sh!t I thought I knew what I am doing but I really don't! I am developer, built my own blog platform, built my own sites on ASP.NET. Its time I ask for help as man banging my head. Making 1K a month just aint cutting it for me anymore.

1. Do you backlink certain keyword for your site as a whole?
2. Do you backlink each page individually?
3. How many links...as many until you rank top 10?
4. Back to my first question, it seems the most common ways to get links these days is to write articles and submit it to blog (guest post) and article directories and web 2.0?
Lets be honest to respin a million articles is not my cup of tea, this is the boring crap...but if the way then I do it. And I need to get links to these articles as well?
5. Use Forums i.e. in Profile and Signature. How effective are these?

Forum profiles from sites like Backlink Philippines work well still, but for sites with good existing link profiles.

But manual links from Build My Rank, Postrunner etc can work wonders. But you need to put the work in.

Links to every piece of content on a site will give best overall results, and mining your stats is the best way to get a ton of traffic and rank for a ton of terms. Any longtail you get send it a few links, you keep the keyword variety and end up with top rankings for a ton of terms that adds up to more than the main tern in most cases.

It basically never ends. But the absolute best way is always going to be to build up a series of satellite sites, buy aged domains of possible, and crank out the links to them and send a link or two from the homepage to your main money sites. Web 2.0 stuff is so hit and miss these days being under complete control is better, plus you earn from the satellite sites too.
